I’ve been in the blogging business long enough to understand that it can be a lucrative career that can earn you passive income for years to come.

However, you may not want to keep blogging for a lifetime, no matter how flexible, but you have a resource you can easily cash in on for six figures.

So in this guide, I’ll show you exactly how to sell a blog for six figures, without trying so hard to do it. Whether you want to exit blogging entirely or you want quick cash for some side project, you’ll find this short guide helpful.

To sell your blog for high six figure, do an evaluation to determine whether the site would be worth your asking price. Check the blog traffic, current earnings from your monetization streams, find the monthly average for the last three or six months, and then value your site accordingly.

I understand that it takes time to build, scale, and grow a website. So when you finally come to the decision that you want to flip a project for high five figures, you want to make sure what you get will be worth it.

How to Sell a Blog for profit

When I started blogging, I never knew it would come a time when one of my blogs would grow into a moneymaking machine.

When I hit the $1,500 mark in monthly revenue, my desire to flip the site got me a five-figure deal that I simply couldn’t turn down. It was time for me to close that business and start a new chapter in life.

You’re right where I was, and I need to tell you, with confidence, that you can sell your blog for a decent amount of money provided it’s in good standing.

So, what shows that your blog is ready for sale?

1. Your Blog’s Traffic is Growing at Scale

I’ve interacted with bloggers who strongly claim that traffic is a vanity metric. And I agree with them completely. However, if your site gets targeted traffic that can convert visitors to leads and sales, you’re off to a good start.

Potential buyers tend to look for traffic from organic searches, as the traffic is highly likely to convert. So if you’re getting organic traffic to your blog every month, you’re definitely in a good position to sell it.

2. Your Blog Has Multiple Income Streams

Here’s the deal:

No one is going to buy your site for high six figures if it isn’t generating income. That’s why buyers don’t fall prey into raw traffic.

If your website gets targeted traffic from search engines and social media, then monetization shouldn’t be an issue at all.

If you’ve monetized your site with affiliate networks such as Amazon and ads networks like Ezoic and Mediavine, you’ll more than likely find a buyer with whom you can strike a high five-figure deal.

3. You Have a Good Domain Name

I often advice newbie bloggers to choose the right name for a blog. Often, there are two reasons why doing so is important:

  • Visitors remember your brand name and can send direct traffic to a site
  • Potential buyers look at the name of a site to determine whether it’s worth buying

From what I know, having a simple, one to two words, domain name can make a big difference if you ever decide to sell a blog.

After all, buyers aren’t going to buy your site with an intention of losing their money. They’ll be looking for a brand they can grow in the future.

So if your website generates traffic and revenue, and it has a good brand name on the web, it’s likely you can sell it for a high five figure.

4. You Get Unsolicited Offers to Sell Your Blog

If you keep getting unsolicited questions about selling your blog or offers from potential buyers who’ve seen the value of your blog, your blog is ready to put up for sale.

The problem is:

Many of the offers you get will be lower than the precise value of your blog. So it’s best to ignore offers that don’t look as appealing, because the last thing you want to do is to sell your blog at a value lower than you should in the first place.

You might get genuine offers, although that often happens in rare cases.

Where to Sell Your Blog for High six Figures

There are four places I know of where you can sell your blog for a high five figure. And they’re as follows:

Flippa

Flippa allows you to list your site for sale, but it doesn’t have a vetting process in place. You’ll post your offer for free, and it’s up to you to decide how much you’d like to sell the site for.

To increase your chances of flipping your blog on Flippa, consider providing as much important information about your blog, including traffic stats and income report.

FE International

FE International is the platform to use if you want to sell a well-built blog for five-figures. The marketplace’s clients are those with high-end websites, which explains why they handle large transactions from five figures going up.

One thing that stands out about FE International is the screening process for buyer and seller protection. So you can be sure of a scam-free environment.

Empire Flippa

Empire Flippa takes a distinctive approach to selling a website for five figures and up.

What I love about them is that they provide sellers with an evaluation tool that can help them determine the approximate value of their site.

Also, they help you to handle the sales process, so you never have to worry about anything going wrong along the way.

Final Thoughts

There are tools you can use to determine the value of your blog. However, I don’t recommend using any of them because they never give an accurate output.

What I recommend you do is to find the average income for the last three of six months of your blog’s earning. Then, multiply that value by anything between 32 and 36 multiple to know how much to sell the blog at.

I hope this helps.
