I’ve either burned or thrown away many grocery receipts than I can even count. If I knew then just how valuable they’re, I would have probably saved $1,000+ since I started shopping for groceries online.

These days I know better not to burn or throw these receipts to the bin. That’s because I can scan them to earn some cashback, however small the amount may be.

While the cashback you earn from scanning receipts, via cashback grocery apps like iBotta, won’t be a lot, even a dollar can make a difference over time. After all, you can take the amount you earn back, put it back to grocery shopping, get another grocery receipt, and rinse and repeat the process.

In the following section, I’ll list some of the best grocery apps that allow you to earn some cashback by simply scanning your receipt. So if you’re ready to convert your receipts to se cash that you can use for future purchases, check out the following apps and choose one that best suits you.

10 of the Cashback Grocery Apps

1. Coupons

What first comes to your mind when you read the term “coupon”? You probably think about an offer of discount codes that you can use to buy groceries and other products online at a discounted price, right?

And you’re right, that’s actually what coupons.com is all about.

To be clear, I haven’t used this site myself, so I don’t have any experience with it. However, I do have folks who use it all the time, and they report success with it.

What there to love about this app is that it does more than just letting you find discount coupons to apply to your next list of online grocery shopping. It also lets you capture a photo of your grocery receipts, so you can cash in on the relevant offers that save you money.

You will love coupons because it gives you actual money back from every receipt that you print. So if you want to yet some cashback sent to your PayPal account, this is the right app that you should use.

2. Coin Out

When Coin Out featured on Shark Tank in 2017, none of us knew that it would turn out to be something big. Today it’s one of the best grocery app that can earn you some cash back  without a shadow of doubt.

I do interact Coin Out app myself, and I’m more than willing to admit that it’s easy and straightforward to use. The user interface looks organized and the overall layout of elements is up to the standards of professional mobile app design.

This app’s algorithm is quite robust and good at what it does. Not only is it able to track the purchases that you make online. It is also able to scan receipts of every purchase you make from offline groceries and reward you for them.

What you’ll love about Coin Out is you can use it to earn real money from your purchases. And you can get the reward sent to your PayPal, bank, or Amazon account.

3. Paribus

Paribus isn’t a household name in my opinion, but it’s still as good as the iBotta cashback grocery app. If you haven’t tried it our yet, or you’re already curious to do that right now, click here to get started

What I love about this app, and you should too, is how it works. This one doesn’t scan your receipts right off the bat, and that to me makes it quite interesting.

Think of it like this:

How many receipts get mailed to your email address when buy goods and services online? I’m assuming there’s quite a lot, at least from my very own online shopping experience.

If you have Paribus installed on your phone, the app can help you get some of your money back.

Here’s how it works:

You have to download, install, and sign up for an account with Paribus. Then, you need to allow the app permission to connect with your email and monitor your inbox.

What the app does is it monitors receipts to determine whether there are prices changes on the items you just purchased. If this is the case, it Paribus will help you get your money back.

4. Rakuten

Rakuten has improved a lot ever since it rebranded from eBates. And if I’m being honest, it has grown into one such a big business that it definitely deserves a mention.

One of the best things about Rakuten is that it has both an Android and iOS app as well as a Cashback Chrome Extension that you can use to find great offers online. Plus, it has a partnership with thousands of online stores such as Jet, CNG, Blue Apron, Amazon and Walmart, so you can earn some decent cashback when you shop via the app.

Unlike some grocery apps that require you to scan receipts, Rakuten does it on your behalf by simply tracking your online purchases.

If you are the kind of person that prefers to redeem your balances as soon as possible, no matter how small it is, you will definitely love the Rakuten platform. That’s because it has the lowest cashing out limit, which is $5, although you get paid on a quarterly basis.

5. Fetch Rewards

When it comes to the best cashback app for grocery stores, it would be unfair to not mention Fetch Rewards.

It’s one of the oldest apps I’ve interacted with. And while it isn’t as intuitively designee, in my opinion, it’s still a good app to download and use.

While not an industry leader in its category, the Fetch Rewards app let’s you earn some cashback by simply scanning the receipts you  get from grocery stores.

This one won’t pay you cash, though. Instead, you accumulate points in your account, which you can redeem for rewards online.

One thing you’ll love about Fetch Rewards is just how vast its partnership with big brands is. You can redeem the points you earn as gift cards, which you can use for shopping on big brands such as Best Buy, Old Navy, and Fitbit.

So why not get started with Fetch Rewards if you haven’t yet? Download the app for Android or iOS, create a free account, activate your profile, start scanning receipts, rack up those points, and earn your rewards.

6. Saving Star

saving star grocery app

I have to admit that Saving Star is one of the top apps that you can use if you are serious about earning some cashback on the grocery purchases that you make in stores.

The apps is well built, with the look and feel being more professionally intuitive, making the app user friendly and very easy to interact with. Plus, it has a generous audience, not to mention some positive four and five-star reviews that you can’t get your eyes off.

One of the best things about this app is that you can use it to earn cash rewards at most grocery stores. All you have to do is to link the loyalty card for your store to the app, and it will send you weekly alerts on items you can earn some cashback on.

You don’t need to have a lot of money in your Saving Star account to cash out. The minimum threshold is as low as $20, which isn’t that bad.

As for payouts, you can request for a payment via Direct Deposit or have the money sent to your PayPal account. If you like, you can even send the money to charity as a donation.

7. Receipt Pal

Why throw away your receipts when you can use Receipt Pal to convert them to important points that you can redeem for future shopping? With this app, you will earn some points for every receipt that you upload.

The more receipts you submit to this app the more points you earn. As far as the numbers go, you get around 100 points credited to your account after you submit 4 receipts.

You will love Receipt Pal because it accepts more than just grocery receipts. You can earn points even from the receipts that you get from clothing stores, car dealerships, gas stations, and travel destinations.

There are rules to scanning receipts with Receipt Pal, and as it turns out, they aren’t that complicated to follow.

  • You can only your scan your receipts to Receipt Pal within 3 days after the end of the previous month
  • You’re not allowed to scan receipts of your recurring bills
  • You’re not eligible to earn points if you make payments for your online shopping to Groupon, eBay, or Amazon.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about Receipt Pal, in my opinion, is that you earn real cash from the receipts that you scan. In short, it’s possible to redeem your points into cash, or you can get them in the form of gift cards for future shopping.

8. Top Cash Back

There’s always going to be that great feeling when you earn a cashback from shopping online. Even though you aren’t going to save a lot instantly, the amount you accumulate can add up to something big.

If you haven’t heard of it yet, Top Cash Back is one of the apps that you can use to earn some cashback each time you make a purchase online. And unlike many similar apps, this one claims to give you the highest return when you shop online through the app.

Here’s how it works:

Once you download the app to your phone, open it and do your grocery shopping online via the app.

Now allow Top Cash Back to track the purchases you make online. Once it finishes to track your purchases, Top Cash Back will credit your account within 24 hours.

9. Shop Kick

Shop Kick doesn’t have the best user interface, and in my take it isn’t even as intuitive as I had initially thought. Even then, it’s still a good app that delivers what it promises.

Getting started with this one is quite easy and straightforward.

First, you need to download the app to your Android or iOS smartphone. Create an account and get a $5 new user bonus for signing up as a new member.

I like that the app can even reward you when you walk to a nearby store, although I still don’t get how this will benefit Shop Kick as a business. All you have to do in this case is to make sure you turn your phone’s GPS on and you’re good to go.

While the working mechanism of this app is too technical for an average person like me to understand, I have to accept that Shop Kick can even pay me for items I don’t buy. All I have to do is to scan the barcodes of the items and I’m set to earn points, but it is best to buy something if you would like to earn more points.

You can also earn and redeem points by scanning non-grocery receipts.

10. Checkout 51

The Checkout 51 is also a good to consider if you want to earn some cashback by scanning grocery receipts. This one is for you if you’re a citizen of the United States of America or Canada.

There is a rule to scanning receipts as far as this app is concerned. You need to make sure you scan all the receipts you have by Wednesday at 11:45 PM.

The minimum amount required before you can get laid is $20. Once your threshold reaches this amount, Checkout 51 will send a check to your mail.

Conclusion

That’s it, a list of the top apps like iBotta that earn you cashback when you scan your grocery receipts. I’m sure you’ve tried some of these apps, and some are probably new to you. Whichever the case, you should never burn down your grocery receipts again because you can easily convert them into some cashback.
